National Community Pharmacist Association (UU-NCPA)

NCPA Student Affairs offers pharmacy students a wide array of opportunities to broaden and enrich their educational experience, gain valuable real world skills, earn scholarships and have fun in the process. Our mission is to encourage, foster, and recognize an interest in community pharmacy ownership and entrepreneurship among the future leaders of the profession.

The Univeristy of Utah chapter of NCPA attends the annual NCPA Convention and Trade Exposition, held in Tampa in 2008 and in New Orleans in October of 2009. Students can attend a number of CEs on creating an independent pharmacy business and network with current pharmacy owners from across the nation.

Our chapter competes in the annual NCPA Pruitt-Schutte Business Plan Competition. This is a unique oppotunity to design and create a comprehensive business plan that can be implemented after graduation. Any student interested in being a business owner or working in an independent pharmacy would benefit from the opportunities provided by NCPA.

In March of 2009, our student chapter will be traveling to Moab, Utah to visit Walker Drug, a very successful independent community pharmacy. We will also be visiting Arches National Park and enjoying the stunning scenery of Southern Utah.

In February of 2010, our student chapter will organize the Pharmacy Legislative Day on Capitol Hill with our state organizations and the NCPA chapter at USN-SJ. Don't miss it!
