Marine animals and symbiotic bacteria: a partnership to build bioactive natural products
From the world's diverse environments and organisms, we obtain a wealth of biosynthetic genes that can be used for drug discovery and chemical synthesis via genetic engineering. This information can also be used to better understand interactions in the environment. Bridging these chemical and genetic programs, we also have a small-molecule discovery project.
