2003 - 2004     Postdoctoral Fellow under the guidance of Professor William H. Fenical, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego, La Jolla, CA                         Research focused on investigating new marine actinomycete genera as a source of pharmaceutical leads.

1999 - 2003     Graduate Research Assistant with Professor Chris M. Ireland, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT
                        Thesis research focused on investigating marine-derived fungi as a source of potential pharmaceutical leads with an emphasis on anticancer and antibiotic drug discovery.

2001-               Research intern (six weeks) at Wyeth research under the supervision of Dr. Valerie S. Bernan
                        Research included routine maintenance and fermentation of fungi, fungal fermentation studies, fungal genomic DNA isolation, taxonomic characterization of fungi using morphology and rDNA sequencing, feeding studies and metabolite analysis using LC-ion trap MS, and antimicrobial assays.

1995 – 1998    Research Specialist for Dr. Andrea A. Stierle, Montana Tech, Butte, MT
                        Research was focused on isolation and characterization of active metabolites from endophytic fungi.
