College of Pharmacy News August 13, 2007 PARSONS BEHLE & LATIMER NAMES CHAIR OF HEALTH AND LIFE SCIENCES LAW GROUP Salt Lake City -- Raymond J. Etcheverry, president of Parsons Behle & Latimer, announced that the firm has named William J. Stilling to chair the firm's Health and Life Sciences Practice Group. Stilling has been involved in the health care industry for 25 years and has practiced law for 15 of those years. In addition to his other work, Stilling is an associate professor (clinical) in the Department of Pharmacotherapy at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy and is registered patent attorney. The group works closely with attorneys in the firm's intellectual property, corporate, tax, employment and litigation departments. The coordination of experience in health law and expertise of attorneys in these other departments allows the firm to assist a wide array of clients that include managed care companies, health care providers, clinics, and companies in the pharmaceutical, medical device, dietary supplement, biotech, DME, health information, laboratory and research industries. The diverse experience of the group's attorneys allows them to counsel clients on a wide range of issues with a focus on avoiding legal pitfalls and solving client problems creatively and cost effectively. According to Stilling, "This is an exciting time to be practicing law in health and life sciences. This practice allows attorneys to help clients implement technologies that had not been thought of a few years ago, to structure relationships in an increasingly complex regulatory environment and to prevent legal problems before they arise." Parsons Behle & Latimer is Utah's largest law firm serving clients in the natural resources, utility, real estate, health care, banking, technology, sports, retail and manufacturing industries. Founded in 1882, it has offices in Salt Lake City, Reno and Las Vegas and more than 100 lawyers.
