• The College of Pharmacy receives a $20 million donation from the ALSAM Foundation for the construction of a new college of pharmacy. The donation starts a fund-raising campaign that will ensure the College's future as a world-renowned research institution. • Dr. David Grainger received the Clemson Award for Basic Research. The award is presented by the Society of Biomaterials and is accompanied with a cash award from Clemson University. The award is presented to someone "for contributions to the basic knowledge and understanding of the interaction of materials with tissue".
