Welcome to our 2009 New Ph.D. Students
Title: 2009 New Student Orientation and Annual SAC Fall Picnic and BBQ
Story:
On August 20, 2009, New Graduate Student Orientation and the Pharmaceutics Graduate Student Advisory Committee (SAC) sponsored Annual SAC Fall Picnic and BBQ. Welcome to the 9 new students to the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. New students: (from the left Zheng Hong (Joseph) Peng, Arachana Rao, Michael Jacobsen, Emily Theisen, Meghana Pandit, Priyanka Garg, Yizhe Chen, Yan (Zoe) Zhou, and Pilju Youn. As part of New Student Orientation, the department Student Advisory Committee barbecued burgersin a relaxed social venue, providing a brief respite between summer and fall to re-group the department and meet the new students. 
Yizhe Chen joined Dr. Darin Furgeson's lab in Fall 2009 Semester. She received her Bachelors of Pharmacy from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.
Priyanka Garg joined Dr. Patrick Kiser's lab in Fall 2009 Semester. She received her Bachelors of Pharmacy Degree from Hemwati Nandan Bahugna Giarhwal University, then, she received her Masters of Pharmacy from Manipal University both in India.
Michael Jacobsen joined Dr. Jindrich Kopecek in Summer, 2009. He received his Bachelors of Biology, Chemistry, and Computer Science from Wayne State College in Nebraska. Then, he entered the Biological Chemsitry Graduate Program, University of Utah, and after his first-year rotations, he joined our department.
Meghana Pandit entered Dr. Darin Furgeson's lab in Fall, 2009. She received her Bachelors of Pharmacy from University of Pune in India. Then, she received her Masters of Pharmaceutical Sciences Degree from Idaho State University, Idaho, USA.
Zheng Hong (Joseph) Peng joined Dr. Jindrich Kopecek's in Spring, 2009. He received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Applied (Fine) Chemistry from Dalian University of Technology in China.
Archana Rao entered Dr. David Grainger's lab in Spring, 2009. She received her Bachelors of Science from Bangalore University in India. She also completed her Masters of Science degree from Bangalore Univesity in India. Then, she joined Department of Materials Science, University of Utah, and after her rotations she transfered to our department.
Emily Theisen entered Dr. Darin Furgeson's lab in Fall, 2009. She received her Bachelors of Biology from University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA.
Pilju Youn entered Dr. Darin Furgeson's lab in the Fall, 2009. She received her Bachelors of Science from Sungkyunkwan University in Korea. Then, she received her Masters of Environmental Health and Toxicology from Seoul National University in Korea.
Yan (Zoe) Zhou entered Dr. Jindrich Kopecek's lab in Fall, 2009. She received her Bachelors of Medical Science from Peking University in China.
