Graduate Studies in Pharmacy Outcomes Research

The University of Utah College of Pharmacy is part of the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, with state-of-the-art classroom, research and library facilities available to students pursuing graduate education. The Department of Pharmacotherapy has a long, rich history in the provision of high quality post-graduate training for pharmacy practitioners. Graduates currently work in a broad range of settings, including the pharmaceutical industry, academia, institutional pharmacy, community pharmacy, and managed care organizations. We are a dynamic department, leading the way in the application of pharmacotherapeutic principles in patient care.

PhD in Pharmacotherapy Outcomes Research & Health Policy

The Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacotherapy Outcomes Research & Health Policy will be offered to qualified and motivated students with interest in pharmacotherapy outcomes research careers based in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, governmental agencies, and the healthcare industry. Students graduate with core competencies in health economics, epidemiology, research design, and statistics. Application of these disciplines to health policy decision-making is the primary program focus.

 

We require a statement of purpose, CV, transcripts, score reports (GRE for US applicants and GRE and TOEFL for International applicants) and three letters of recommendation from all applicants.

December 15, 2011         Final deadline for International students.

January 10, 2012            Final deadline for US residents.

Masters of Science in Pharmacotherapy

The Masters of Science in Pharmacotherapy program is designed to co-train concurrent ASHP administrative residents for careers in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, governmental agencies, and the healthcare industry. The program provides a curriculum and experience in the administrative sciences so that Pharmacy Practice Management students are able to apply administrative principles and methods to every-day management problems.

The Department of Pharmacotherapy only accepts students into our Master of Science program who are also accepted into ASHP-accredited administrative residency programs in Pharmacy Practice Management located at either University of Utah Hospitals & Clinics or Intermountain Healthcare.  Directors of those programs should be contacted directly via the ASHP Residency Matching program.
