November is Epilepsy Awareness Month! We are working on the need to find a cure, better treatments, and end discrimination.
Today doctors know epileptic seizures result from erratic firing by brain neurons and they can recommend treatments such as drugs or surgery. However, during the Renaissance, people blamed stones inside the skull for the convulsions, unusual sensations, and the other symptons of the illness. Axelrod shared how she and CURE are working to increase epilepsy awareness and funding for research. The appearance comes the morning after the sold-out 2nd Annual CURE New York City Benefit, at which Shriver was honored for his commitment to helping people with disabilities.
