The Wolf Prize - Call for Nominations

Prize Name:
Established in memory of John and Bertha Wolf who, in the tradition of many poor, immigrant families, valued education highly and ensured that their children would have access to it.

Prize Purpose:
To recognize and reward excellent teaching by a Ph.D. student graduating from any department in the College of Pharmacy who has demonstrated interest in teaching, broadly defined; and who clearly intends to pursue an academic career.

Prize Details:
The Wolf Prize consists of a $5,000 award and suitably engraved plaque, both to be presented at the annual College Convocation ceremony. The candidate must be present at Convocation to receive the award. The name of the recipient will also be engraved on a permanent plaque displayed in the College.

Application process:
Nomination packet is generated by candidate and coordinated by thesis advisor. Packet should include:

• A statement outlining teaching experience, evidence for teaching success, innovative instructional or evaluative techniques used, and commitment to an academic career
• Two letters of recommendation, at least one from a member of the College of Pharmacy faculty
• Student evaluations of teaching effectiveness
• Emphasis on distinction, meritorious effort, and commitment to teaching beyond the call of duty of normal doctoral student obligations and expectations

Applications are evaluated by a faculty committee that makes formal recommendations about an appropriate recipient to the Dean.

Successful candidates will likely have consistently sought new opportunities for significant teaching activities throughout their doctoral experience and prior to their final year in the program.
